In the twentieth century, decolonization sparked mass migration movements across globe as former settlers left newly independent colonies for imperial metropole or a new country altogether. following decades, postcolonial migrants made homes and created communities in their hostlands. Eventually, some travelled back to of origin, colony. Indisch Dutch returns Indonesia are not uncommon and, although members first generation visited tourists, accounts (re)turns by second third rare. To form clearer picture transnational connections between Netherlands, it is important engage with travels after independence. By examining life narratives Dutch, this article investigates complex relationships diaspora, memory, nostalgia, identity, impact on relations two countries.
